Who we are

Vision: The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) envisions a world where peace, justice and nonviolent relations prevail through people’s active work and commitment.

Mission: LPI is an international and ecumenical centre that supports and promotes nonviolent approaches to conflict transformation through a combination of research and action that entails the strengthening of existing local capacities and enhancing the preconditions for building peace.

LPI’s head office in Uppsala Sweden facilitates the implementation process, providing programmatic and administrative support to LPI’s field conflict transformation programmes.

LPI’s office in Nairobi, Kenya administrates the Peacebuilding with Regional Partners programme and the Somalia conflict transformation programme.

LPI’s office in Bukavu, The Democratic Republic of Congo administrates the DRC conflict transformation programme.

LPI’s office in Khartoum, Sudan administrates the Sudan conflict transformation programme.
