Horn of Africa Bulletin

Horn of Africa Bulletin is a monthly newsletter compiling analyses, news and resources on issues related to conflict and peacebuilding in the Horn of Africa region.

The focus lies on the dynamics of peace and conflict in the region. While Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia constitute the core of HAB, developments in other IGAD member states such as Kenya and Uganda are also covered.

HAB consists of three parts: In part one, articles are supposed to provide readers with analyses of current or general developments.

Secondly, HAB compiles various news items by using a network of sources and communicators from the region itself as well as Europe and America. Thirdly, resources – such as recently published reports and books – for the countries of the region are collected.

The Bulletin is produced in collaboration of the Life and Peace Institute, the Nairobi-based AACC (All Africa Conference of Churches) and FECCLAHA (Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa). It is distributed in a digital version to subscribers in about 100 countries.

HAB was re-launched in this new format in March 2007 and all issues since then are available here on the website. Back issues from pre 2007 can be provided upon request. From May 2009 HAB will only be produced in its electronic version to be printed by anyone free of charge.

Call for analytical articles
The editorial team of HAB is currently looking for analytical articles. The articles are supposed to explore and reflect issues related to conflict and peacebuilding both in single countries of concern to the HAB and in a more regional perspective. Articles usually do not exceed 1100 words.

We are looking forward to receive your proposals. We especially welcome writers from the Horn of Africa region and female writers. We are able to pay a small honorarium for published articles.

For more information, don’t hesitate to contact the editor of HAB through the e-mail adress provided above.
