Welcome to the Life & Peace Institute The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) is an international and ecumenical centre of research on and action for peace and justice. Our aim is to further the causes of justice, peace and reconciliation through a combination of action-oriented research and conflict transformation. LPI’s work deals with non violent conflict transformation and research about the role of religion in peace and conflict as well as traditional conflict resolution mechanisms. This focus takes its expression through: - Conflict Transformation programmes and civil society support - Thematic and field based research - Publications and the arrangement of seminars A main principle for LPI is to involve different levels of society, particularly the “grassroots” in the work for peace, that is, the people that are most affected take active part in building peace and democracy. LPI in the world Projects on peace research and direct work for peace are presently taking place in partnership with regional partners throughout the Horn of Africa, Somalia, in DR Congo, Congo Brazzaville and Timor Leste.
